New JPX-EZ woods hit the tour
In Europe the EZ adjustable driver has made an early impact
The new JPX EZ woods due for February release in Europe have been spotted on both the US and European PGA Tours in recent weeks.
First sighting was of Luke Donald by cult equipment site GolfWRX in the US. Donald has thrown the new EZ Hybrid 16 degree straight into his bag – leading to a late season return to form at the Fed Ex Players Championship.

In Europe the EZ adjustable driver has also made an early impact. With just a few early heads available – Ricardo Gonzales put the 9.5 model straight into play. Gonzales also has the JPX EZ 3 wood and JPX EZ 19 degree hybrid in his bag. Scotsman Peter Whiteford continues to use the EZ driver into his home event – the Dunhill Links Championship. Whiteford has been playing the EZ driver since testing in Holland – Mizuno’s Trackman launch monitor showed his EZ driver to have a more consistant spin rate and carry than his old gamer.
“It’s interesting that the EZ line is more about larger footprints and higher ball flight – yet our tour players are finding with the right shaft, it’s a profile that really works for them.”
Swede Magnus Carlsson has a 16 degree JPX EZ hybrid in play – after posting some incredibly consistent numbers on his Trackman session. Check out Carlsson’s numbers on our Tour Blog.
Mizuno’s Tour Operations Manager Alex Thorne, “The last Mizuno woods to make this kind of early impact were the MX-700s. It’s interesting that the EZ line is more about larger footprints and higher ball flight – yet our tour players are finding with the right shaft, it’s a profile that really works for them.”
“There’s an expectation for tour players to prefer smaller fairway woods and hybrids – but as long as we can create a strong flight that doesn’t balloon, these bigger heads just give them the confidence to be a little more aggressive.”
