Adrien Saddier Clinches First DP World Tour Victory on 200th Start at the Open D’Italia
Adrien Saddier etches his name into the DP World Tour history books in Italy.
Adrien Saddier etched his name into the DP World Tour history books today, coming from behind to claim his maiden tour victory in stunning fashion on his 200th career start. The long-awaited breakthrough comes after nearly a decade of persistence, resilience, and consistent play across Europe’s top golf stages.
After matching the course record (a 6-under 64) in his second round, Saddier went into the weekend in solo 7th, just two shots off the lead. A third round 67 saw the Frenchman jump into tied 2nd heading into the final day where a disappointing 1-over 36 on the front nine saw his hopes begin to fade. But Adrien dug deep to card a sensational bogey-free 5-under back nine to clinch the tournament by two shots from his French compatriot Martin Couvra.
Saddier’s performance throughout the week was marked by calm composure and clutch shot-making, culminating in a final round that perfectly showcased his maturity and determination. The win is not only a personal triumph but also a testament to his journey – proving that perseverance pays off, no matter how long the road.
Adrien set up his bag accordingly for the tough conditions at Argentario GC. His bag featured:
- Mizuno ST-Z 9.5º Driver
- Mizuno Pro Fli-Hi 2-iron
- Mizuno Pro 243 4-iron (bent to 3-iron)
- Mizuno Pro S-3 4-iron and 5-iron
- Mizuno Pro 241 6-iron though 9-iron
- Mizuno T24 Copper 46.08S
An emotional Saddier thanked his family for their support throughout his career adding, “It was a wait. It was a long time to finally have the trophy in my hands. But sometimes you have to work hard and go through the dark moments, you have to appreciate the journey.”
Adrien is looking forward to competing in the upcoming Munich and Scottish Opens, but this victory has sealed his place at the 153rd Open. It will be Saddier’s first Open Championship and we’ll be looking forward to seeing him tee it up at Portrush in the coming weeks.
