Mizuno’s live Masterclass drew a delighted crowd at Bearwood Lakes GC on Monday 19th May – after news of the exclusive event was tweeted on Sunday evening.

Mizuno players Luke Donald, Chris Wood and rookie Dutchman Daan Huizing dazzled the crowds with an intimate short game clinic around the 18th green. Huizing stole the show – holing out his bunker shot at the first attempt.

Afterwards 18 competition winners from around Europe played Bearwood’s stunning back 9 – joining the Mizuno players who were each stationed on the par 3’s. The guests were challenged to a nearest the pin competition on each of the holes – with the added difficulty of having to get the ball inside the pros.

Luke Donald claimed nearest the pin on the 9th with his very first shot of the day – 192 yards into the wind with his MP-64 iron to four feet. With crowds of around 200 on the tee and green, the challenge was a tough one for Mizuno’s guests. The highlight was 12 year old Oscar taking driver to make his par – off a tee just 10 yards further forward.

Surprisingly Mizuno’s guests got the better of the pros on the other two holes. On the 12th, Mizuno Forum member ‘Big Pete’ hit the shot of his life on the downhill 12th to take the honours against Daan Huizing. Sam Hughes took on Chris Wood on the 14th and again came out on top. Wood then showed his class, joining the last 3 ball to play Bearwood’s back 4 holes in 4 under par – from the very tips of the Championship tees.

“The day was a treat for everyone involved,” said David Matthews, European Marketing Manager. “We kept things very private until the night before – but then Twitter took off in the local area. By the time the players arrived, we had a crowd of around 300 people waiting for the clinic.”

“Most golfers never have the chance to get so close up to world class players – our audience had 3. Hopefully we’ll be back with another Mizuno Masterclass Live for 2015 and make the next one a little bigger.”

Donald will hope that his appearance is a lucky omen leading upto the BMW Championship at Wentworth. Donald last appeared at Bearwood Lakes on behalf of Mizuno in 2012 before winning the 2nd of his BMW Championships. Donald’s two victories at the Dunlop Phoenix event in Japan also followed Monday appearances for Mizuno.
