Amateur prodigy Huizing wins first professional title
Dutchman wins with JPX825 woods and MP-69 irons
Mizuno prodigy Dann Huizing confirmed his incredible amateur potential – winning on just his 7th Challenge Tour start at Galgorn Castle Golf Club / Northern Ireland.
Huizing, who recently completed an Economics degree at Utrecht University, has been marked out for golfing stardom after a stellar amateur career which saw him rising to number two in the world rankings.
Young Dutchman Huizing has been marked for greatness since shooting a record 264 (24 under par) to win the St. Andrews Links Trophy in 2012 – becoming Europe’s top amateur in the process.
Having begun the final round with a six shot lead, Huizing struggled in the swirling winds in Northern Ireland, dropping four strokes on the front nine – before recovering his composure to win in a play off.
A perfect drive with his JPX825 at the first playoff hole put Daan in pole position – finding the putting surface in two with a fine approach with his JPX825 3 wood. After rushing his eagle chance eight feet past the hole Daan showed great resolve to hole the return putt for birdie and the win.
“I managed to ignore the shakes and make a good stroke and get the ball on line,” said an excited Huizing.
“This has just been an amazing week. The tournament has been great and to play in front of so many people was really cool. Playing in front of crowds like this makes the win even more special, and hopefully I can keep playing well and win a card for The European Tour next year.”
Huizing is now in position to do that. His victory, worth €27,500, propelled him to sixth place in the Rankings. The top 15 players will gain their European Tour cards at the end of the season.

Daan Huizing Background
Daan Huizing has been flagged as the most exciting young prospect on the European Tour having dominated European Amateur Golf for two seasons. Based in Soest, Netherlands, Daan reached No 1 in Europe and No 2 in the World Golf Rankings, the highest ever position by a golfer from The Netherlands.
Claiming 12 titles in little over two years, Daan’s victories alone are impressive; however, the manner of some of these victories, an eleven shot victory at The Lytham Trophy and a fourteen shot victory at the St Andrews Links Trophy, distinguishes Daan from almost any other golfer in recent history.
Daan has seamlessly adapted to life as a professional quickly recording Top 5 finishes in four of his first five events on the European Challenge Tour – including two course records. Daan completed his degree in Economics in Law at Utrecht University in April 2013.
