Bailey Tardy finishes T4th at 2023 US Women's Open

Mizuno’s most recent recruit, LPGA rookie Bailey Tardy finished T4th (-3) at the 2023 US Women’s Open.  Emerging talent Tardy defied expectations by qualifying and then leading the Pebble Beach tournament at the midway point with rounds of 69 and 68.

Tardy’s rise to prominence has not come easily – despite a standout college career.  After turning professional the big hitting Tardy missed 14 cuts on the Epson Tour in 2019, then after COVID and injuries, took 4 attempts to qualify for an LPGA tour card.   Tardy originally called Mizuno for work in her off season, from the Epson Tour, which lead to a sponsorship and turn around in her fortunes.

Mizuno’s Lauren Smith was instrumental in bringing Bailey to Mizuno as part of a rejunevation of its tour staff – with an eye very firmly on the future.  An emphasis is now placed on youth, potential and targeting investment in genuine need of support.

Bailey had always had exceptional talent – but she’s had a lot of hurdles to overcome since turning professional.  We knew that given time and a little patience, Bailey’s sheer talent would come through.  Finishing 4th at Pebble is huge and takes some of the pressure off that every LPGA rookie carries.  We’re going to see the best of Bailey over the next couple of seasons and i’d be surprised if that doesn’t include some big wins.

Tardy is currently playing ST-Z 9.5 driver, JPX923 Hot Metal Pro (3&4 iron), JPX923 Tour (5-9 iron), T22 wedges (46/50/54).

Despite the pressure , Tardy shot a respectable +1 on the day 4.
